Palestina y la lucha palestina se han convertido en el foco del movimiento para una globalizacin alternativa. En todos los encuentros y manifestaciones para la justicia global en el mundo, se alza la bandera palestina y se pronuncian eslganes en apoyo del pueblo palestino. Los movimientos sociales que se solidarizan con la causa palestina estn motivados claramente por un fuerte impulso hacia la justicia y por un rechazo del ltimo proyecto colonialista que queda en el mundo; sin embargo, para muchos, las relaciones entre el caso palestino y la globalizacin siguen poco claras.

Desde el advenimiento del imperialismo, el control sobre el Medio Oriente ha sido crucial para las potencias europeas, cuya explotacin constante llev a los pueblos rabes a guerras interminables, dictaduras feroces, pobreza y dependencia. El proyecto sionista de asentamientos fue parte de esa penetracin y subyugacin por parte de los europeos, que convirti a los palestinos en una nacin de refugiados.

La era de globalizacin es algo diferente? La globalizacin militar no es parecida al imperialismo? El papel de Israel en la zona est cambiando? Cules son las perspectivas de los pueblos del Este rabe? Cmo debemos trabajar para construir una paz sostenible en la regin? Cules deberan ser las estrategias para hacer posible un Medio Oriente distinto?

El Centro Alternativo de Informacin est organizando un seminario internacional para discutir y analizar el conflicto israel - palestino en el marco de la globalizacin militar para buscar estrategias de resistencia a la guerra y opresin. Estamos buscando convergencia entre los palestinos, los israeles y los activistas internacionales para hacer posible un futuro sin guerras en el Medio Oriente.

Palestine and the Palestinian struggle have become the focal point for the movement for an alternative globalisation. In all gatherings and demonstrations for global justice around the world, the Palestinian flag is raised and slogans in support of the Palestinian people are chanted. Social movements that adopt the Palestinian cause are clearly motivated by a strong drive for justice and a rejection of the last remanding colonial project; yet for many the links between the Palestinian case and globalisation remain
unclear.

Since the advent of imperialism, control of the Middle East has been crucial to the European powers whose constant exploitation of the region has led the Arab nations to never ending wars, ferrous dictatorships, poverty end dependency. The Zionist settlement project was part of this European penetration, subjugating and transforming the Palestinians into a nation of refugees.

Is the age of globalisation different? Is military globalisation similar to imperialism? Is the role of Israel in the region changing? What are the perspectives for the peoples in the Arab East? How should we work to build a sustainable peace in the region? What should be the strategies to make a different Middle East possible?

The Alternative Information Center is organising an international seminar to discuss and analyse the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the framework of the military globalisation - to look for common strategies of resistance to war and oppression. We are looking for a convergence between Palestinian, Israeli and international activists to make a future without wars possible in the Middle East.
